Track Name: Health & Safety
Health & Safety
written by Liz Lawrence

I’ll be riding in fast cars
Driven by the enemy
Swimming with great white sharks
In some foreign sea
I’m gonna let my hair grow long
And you’re outgrowing me
Stuck between rock n roll
And health and safety

So I’m gonna take my clothes off
And stand in the window frame
Go running with a knife in my hand
For forty second fame
And I’m gonna watch the ice grow thin
And you’re outrunning me
I’m stuck between rock n roll
And health and safety

I’ll be playing on the motorway
And pissing in the winds of change
Collecting my stamps of shame
Hot love on the window-pane
Knowing that these floorboards
Are going to be the death of me
I’m stuck between rock n roll
And health and safety

Coping with a writer’s block
The shiver of anxiety aches
Are you going to eat my words
Or brand me a new-found fake?
And is this going to make me
Or is this going to break me?
I’m stuck between rock n roll
And health and safety
Stuck between rock n roll
And health and safety
Stuck between what I know
And how you made me
Track Name: Midnight
Midnight by Liz Lawrence

It’s been raining all summer
All summer
We’re stuck inside with a million regrets
Lit by the blue light from your TV set
And I’m walking
And I’m walking home as the day breaks
Mulling over my mistakes
Head full cocaine, I’m sure as hell ain’t tired yet

I want to change the world
But I ain’t getting out of bed
I gotta step outside but last night
Is ringing in my ears
And running rings around me dear
Get a 9 to 5 and save for a rainy day
But I was stuck inside
When the summer came
And there was happiness
Shining through the window pane

There’s warnings in the street
That the kids ain’t doing alright
Riots in the street and the kids ain’t doing alright
It’s in the street and the kids ain’t doing alright
Track Name: Rooftops
Rooftops
By Liz Lawrence

That toy that you got
From an old cereal box
Takes pride of place of my window ledge
Them pop cap guns
And your father’s Bensons
Gonna make a man out of you some day

And ain’t it funny how it’s all worked out
You’ve got a job and a family now
And I’m singing these same old songs
In empty bars and cheap restaurants
But it feels like a matter of days
Since knock and run and all the games we played
Sitting on the rooftops after dark
Drinking in the sky and eating the stars

And then running home for tea
Of mash and gravy
The Shipping Forecast is on the radio
Mum’s in a stress
Says she only does her best
But we don’t appreciate where the money goes

Would you even recognise me now
I’ve lost love and I’ve fallen down
Felt the weight of the world on my shoulder
My young face got a little bit older
Had my heart been torn in two
Surely hope it doesn’t happen to you
Since sitting on the rooftops after dark
Drinking in the sky and eating the stars

I won’t tie my laces,
I won’t brush my hair
I won’t wear nice dresses on a Sunday
I Say three Hail Mary’s and I make my peace
With Friday night DJs down back alleys

Ain’t it funny how it’s all worked out
You’ve got a job and a family now
And I’m singing these same old songs
In empty bars and cheap restaurants
But it feels like a matter of days
Since knock and run and all the games we played
Sitting on the rooftops after dark
Drinking in the sky and eating the stars
And my heart been torn in two
Surely hope it doesn’t happen to you
Sitting on the rooftops after dark
Drinking in the sky and eating the stars
Track Name: Through The Wars
THROUGH THE WARS by Liz Lawrence

I’ve been through the wars
In this town
And it don’t feel like home
Right now
I’ve been awful bruised and fighting
So hard not to loose now I know

That you got what you wanted from me
Now there’s nothing left for you to steal
You got what you came here for
So don’t come around here no more

I’ve been lying low
And the cold air clings to my clothes
And down deep in my bones
From my window I can see
The only place that’s guaranteed
Its too late to turn back now I know

That you got what you wanted from me
Now there’s nothing left for you to steal
You got what you came here for
So don’t come around here no more

I’m too young to be old enough to know
But not old enough to learn to let it go
To old to be acting like a child
And this hearts done a whole lot of miles
This hearts done a whole lot of miles
