Now’s the time for us to stop
take a break and load it off
my god, the heat is rising
Give me time to cool it down
there’s not enough to go around
my god, who you fooling?
your dinner’s in the dog
and I’m not gonna make you another
you missed the evening news
now I know where the bodies are buried
all for one and one for all
but we were never in this together
Enough is not enough
the people want blood
when enough is not enough it’s not enough it’s not
When the people want blood
want blood
you better give them blood
oh just for a minute I could see it’s the beginning of something
when the people want blood
I left the heating on
and now I’m gunna knit you a sweater
a gorgeous afternoon
and I’ve been digging holes in the garden
all for one and one for you
but I know where the bodies are buried
Enough is not enough
the people want blood
when enough is not enough it’s not enough it’s not
When the people want blood
want blood
you better give them blood
oh just for the minute I could see it’s the beginning of something
when the people want blood

Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out. Great grooves and I can see lots of ghosts nodding along to this with big smiles on their faces. At last! Anthony Cottrell
Toronto rivals San Francisco as the North American capital of jangle pop as evidenced by this new record of sunny jams from the Motorists. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 16, 2024
